SHS & PHS, Made me read every book on the current banned list. KUDOS. Salinger, Lorraine, Tostevein: and To All theTeachers Who Smoked in their Offices. I can't forget the Scientists...because I became one. And, I always wished I had organic athletic talent, well I did not But, Avery Hughes always pushed me and try to make me believe. My memories are beyond legendary. The teachers, environment, grounds, and community were exemplary. And, there is Lunch....the Best! All these years later...I'm a avid reader, scientist, but sadly not an athlete. Maybe in the next life, APM

I'M LUCKY TO HAVE THE FOURTH GENERATION OF MY FAMILY AT PEMBROKE HILL SCHOOL. THE FACT THAT MY DAUGHTER'S PRE SCHOOL TEACHER, THE ONE AND ONLY KIT SMITH, ALSO TAUGHT TWO OF MY GRANDAUGHTERS WITH THE SAME ENTHUSIASM AND JOY, REFLECTS ON THE COMMITMENT OF THE SCHOOL TO EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION.

My French teacher, Mlle Croibier-Muscat, would always light up my day in high school. She was endlessly patient with me, and fostered such a kind and welcoming classroom. Though I should have been a better student back then, I learned so much from her!

One of my favorite memories with the class of 2026 was the baby shower they hosted for the arrival of J.P. As J.P. has grown they have been so warm and welcoming to him. This class has huge hearts! They were also the first class I was able to teach twice, in second and fifth grade.

I appreciate all our classmates and how Pem-Day gave us space to leave our marks: Publishing the Hilltop with Steve Hughes, swapping photos with John Leifer for the Raider, playing hearts with Blake in the hall, solving puzzles with Bob Hicks, discovering insights with Vierling, Hughes and Simone, cruisin' with Levin, Dennis and Barnard . . .

My favorite teachers were Mme. Tron, Val Ostarch and Al Castle, along with Dan Hathaway who was in charge of Madrigal Singers, Chorus and the amazing musicals. I most appreciated the individualized attention i received due to small classes, especially at the A.P. level. The independent study opportunities in January were exceptional and i was able to explore new areas of interest. I think we enjoyed the finest music program of any high school in the area or perhaps the state! SHS gave me roots and wings I needed to pursue excellence in college and beyond.
